Hi! I'm Emma.
How did I get into Mary Kay? Well, this story starts way back when I was just 3 years old. Really, Mary Kay got in to me way before I got in to Mary Kay.
When I was 3 years old, my mom took a job as a personal assistant to National Sales Director, Kerry Buskirk.
That wasn't just a great opportunity for her, but it also became a great opportunity for me to grow up around women that I admired, respected, and someday wanted to be like.
From a very young age I was able to see successful women who truly love their jobs, love the people they work with, and have a desire to pass that passion on. I saw confident women who believed in themselves and in each other. I saw women who were not afraid to be vulnerable around other women. I saw women who truly wanted the best out of life for each other.
As I grew older I realized that this is not the way women typically treat each other. A desire to grow up to be the kind of woman that I had seen throughout my childhood is what ultimately sparked my desire to become a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant.
I can remember telling my National Sales Director (and second momma), Kerry Buskirk, when I was eight years old that I wanted to be a pink lady when I grew up. I never forgot that (and neither did she). Throughout middle school and high school, I helped Kerry with things she needed done for her personal business and also helped her for many years with her area retreat. The passion that was sparked when I was such a young girl, never diminished, and all the time I was able to spend with these ladies just made it more concrete to me that there is a different way to act...there is a different way to treat women...there is a place where a sisterhood among women from all different walks of life can develop...Mary Kay.
So, on my 18th birthday I signed my agreement...and did little to nothing. I was a senior in high school, looking forward to entering college and Mary Kay got put on the back burner. I decided that after I graduated college, I would pick it back up.
Fast forward 3 years and I am graduating from college. Kerry calls me up, reminding me of the decision I had made 3 years prior. So, the morning of graduation, I signed my consultant agreement for the second time.
Since then, I have been able to work my Mary Kay in and around many changes in my life. I got married, moved to Los Angeles, moved back to Augusta, KS, got a teaching job in Little River, KS, then took it to Lee's Summit, MO, and now in Wichita, KS. Throughout all of this, my husband has been my biggest supporter and #1 fan (right next to my mom and my NSD, Kerry). Over the years, my why has always been to one day be able to stay at home with my babies. Now that we have our first baby, Harper, my why has never been more clear. I do this all for her and the legacy I will be able to leave for her.
This year, I am committed to becoming an Independent Sales Director as I build my business with integrity and passion. Before too long, you will be seeing me drive around in a beautiful, brand new Chevy Cruz, sporting my sleek PINK sales director suit.
As I continue my Mary Kay journey, the desire of my heart is to share this amazing opportunity with many women and to help them discover their dreams and make them a reality.
Mary Kay always said, "If you can dream it, you can achieve it."
Emma and her National Sales Director, mentor, and second "mom", Kerry Buskirk.
